Telegraph journalist Sam Dean’s book Arsenal: The Inside Story of Arsenal’s Rebirth Under Mikel Arteta reveals that Arsenal held “serious conversations” with Pochettino after sacking Unai Emery in November 2019.

Pochettino had been sacked by Levy only about 10 days earlier and reportedly “showed willingness to engage” with the Gunners.

The mood in the camp at Spurs was sour at the time, as ENIC had yet again failed to back the Argentinian; his side was flatlining, and rather understandably Poch was unhappy.

It didn’t take long for fans to canonise Poch, and that’s a situation that remains in place to this day.

Pochettino was a strong candidate on a wide shortlist that reportedly also included Roberto Martínez, Carlo Ancelotti, Patrick Vieira, Julian Nagelsmann, Massimiliano Allegri and Vítor Pereira.

My view is that he’d have taken anything and still would. It feels bitterly inevitable that we will see him back at Tottenham. Not backed, but returned, the ultimate corporate win-win.

ENIC appear to be terribly happy with themselves if Lange’s latest LinkedIn cobblers is anything to go by, and therefore I will start drafting an article entitled, “Crucial decisions before Poch amid MAGICAL return” and submit it to Gold My Beer for consideration. Here’s praying he doesn’t return it with ‘See me’ scrawled on the footer.

The media storm around most topflight coaches these days is frankly a disgrace, and one is left having to constantly sift through misinformation and dull takes. How long has so-and-so got to turn it around?!

Most YouTubers appear to be auditioning for a job they will never get, in an industry already oversubscribed with nitwits.

Websites still functioning are beaming their largely unread content to an audience now largely comprised of people who can’t form their own opinions and are looking to pass off the last thing they read, written by someone on minimum wage, to their mates at the water cooler.

Forgive my foul mood, but I have a triple-digit IQ and some days, it weighs heavy.

I’m not a fan of noise. In my considerable experience, it rarely adds much value to any situation.

Spurs win and get some semblance of momentum. It’s 7 games in, and 6 points are on the board. Yet the voices of doom refuse to leave the conversation.

It’s par for the course. The modern way to construct an argument is to take a position that conveniently …

This was another game that ultimately fell into the ‘not really worth watching’ category, as Spurs looked horribly incomplete again. On social media, I keep reading the thoughts of geniuses who profess to know this and that, but few can say the obvious: we don’t have enough killer instinct.

Carry on like this, and we will NEVER leave the magnetic pull o…

The all-wrap - no gift that is Tottenham (it’s okay, the executive has tweaked the branding and it’s now okay to use the ‘T word’) continues to gather pace with players who aren’t actually fit to play, being used as game day ambassadors.

James Maddison can’t start, but will be cheerleading from the bench. I suggest fans watch out for a heartwarming warm…

Such is the absolute state of this football club (football remains the focus, according to Vinai) that the board have taken a leaf out of Andy Burnham’s playbook and has decided to avoid thorny issues, like winning games, and ditch more Levy-speak.

It’s okay to call the club Tottenham again.

Conte never got a full season at Tottenham. In that second year, Paratici received a ban, his first-team fitness trainer Gian Piero Ventrone passed away, and he himself was taken ill. Conte also realised he was incompatible with the club.

Micky van de Ven’s latest issue is a finger/hand injury, and the Netherlands staff are treating it as minor.

That, of course, didn’t stop one Dutch website from deciding to choose a random fan account in order to make the injury sound worse than it was.

They blame AI, but it’s just more guano reporting.

The word “nasty” came from a fan account, not from t…
