Spurs are looking to bounce back from a 3-0 Premier League opening-day defeat at Brentford. Roberto De Zerbi’s side finished 17th last season, narrowly avoiding relegation - something which many appear to have forgotten. Roberto admitted we are “not a team yet” after the Brentford loss. The 0-3 loss was nothing shy of humbling.
Charlton are in strong form under Nathan Jones. Charlton score goals. They have won their first two league games 2-1 and beat Cheltenham 3-1 in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
Anyone else sensing the same negative outcome I am?
The winners go into the third-round draw (ties in the weeks of 7 and 14 September). Spurs have not won the League Cup since 2008 and have often exited early in recent years; Charlton have rarely progressed far either.

It’s surely time for Maddison to be binned replaced.

Good luck with that; the bookies have Charlton at 14/1 and Spurs at 4/17. I wouldn’t stick a pound coin on our lot if I found one in the street.
My suspicion, based upon the no-show last time out, is that we win in either extra time or on penalties.
Alternatively, Brentford are Real Madrid, and Charlton are Atlético Madrid…
We need to put out our strongest side tonight.We have 2 chances of silverware this season and that’s in both the cups.

Regarding tonight,we need to field our strongest side and go all out for both domestic cups.They’re our best chance of silverware this season,particularly with no Euro involvement.Defeat tonight is totally unthinkable and would deal RDZ a serious blow to his continuing i situ I would suggest.The length of our injury list is farcical so early in the season.
