Let me be Frank.

Last night’s match reaction from me was sweary for a reason. Watch the game and tell me where I got it wrong.

The Head Parasite tells us he has ambition, yet suffocates the squad yet again with bad decisions that are not only stupid in their own right, but simultaneously block any good ones (like recruiting Frank).

In the clip above, Frank sounds like an upscale, less frenetic version of Tony Conte. ‘Lots to look at, we didn’t bring our best game, energy levels.’ Blah blah blah.

This season was already giving off the faint smell of last season, before Maddison, the mid-range saloon, was announced as kaput.

Sonny’s departure won’t do us any harm, because he has not been at the top of his game for several seasons anyway. What will kill us, however, is the continued involvement of Richarlison, Bissouma and anyone else who is essentially a waste of a shirt.

Palhinha has given me the horrors. We’re 40 odd minutes in and a part of me hopes that, for his sake, he’s carrying a knock.

Another high-profile shambles from the great pretenders of Europe.

Thomas Frank is here with us.

(00:00:01):

Thomas, a tough night for us today.

(00:00:02):

What did you think of the way the game panned out?

(00:00:07):

Obviously playing a very good team tonight.

(00:00:09):

Bayern,

(00:00:11):

in my opinion,

(00:00:11):

are one of the teams that are probably our favourites to win the Champions League.

(00:00:16):

They hit a good level.

(00:00:18):

We didn't hit a good level.

(00:00:19):

That's a bad combination.

(00:00:22):

We will definitely learn from this one.

(00:00:25):

I definitely got some answers that we will look into and we will calmly reflect on

(00:00:31):

it after the game now and look through it.

(00:00:35):

Also, it seems like we lack some energy somehow which we need to find.

(00:00:41):

No team can play without top energy.

(00:00:43):

We have six days until the Super Cup.

(00:00:46):

What does the next week look like as we try to get ourselves ready for that?

(00:00:49):

No, we will be 100% ready for that game.

(00:00:51):

I'm not in doubt of that.

(00:00:52):

Six days ahead.

(00:00:53):

We will have a normal week for the first time in the last,

(00:00:58):

how can we say,

(00:00:59):

two weeks or something like that.

(00:01:01):

With everything just getting down,

(00:01:05):

less travel,

(00:01:07):

energise them,

(00:01:08):

three,

(00:01:09):

four good sessions and then we'll be ready against PSG.

(00:01:13):

What do you think of pre-season as a whole?

(00:01:16):

I think as a whole, from start to now, I think overall positive.

(00:01:20):

Of course, it was a negative performance today and a negative result.

(00:01:23):

But overall, there's been some really positive performances.

(00:01:26):

You know, the Arsenal one, you know, pretty happy with a lot of bits in the Newcastle one.

(00:01:30):

So that's what the bits we need to look into then is about that consistency in the team.

(00:01:35):

And the Prince really want to get into the players that will, you know,

(00:01:41):

take a bit to get up to that level consistently we want to,

(00:01:45):

but I'm not in doubt we'll get there.

(00:01:47):

We've signed João Polinha on loan this week from Bayern Munich.

(00:01:50):

What do you expect him to bring to our team?

(00:01:53):

I think today we got 45 good minutes into him.

(00:01:58):

So I think that was very positive in many ways and I'm sure he will help the team.

(00:02:03):

Any injury concerns coming out of this one or pretty much as we were?

(00:02:07):

No, positive also today, no injuries.

(00:02:10):

And just finally,

(00:02:11):

I know it's a negative one,

(00:02:12):

but we lost James Madison this week with the injury.

(00:02:15):

How disappointing is that from your perspective?

(00:02:17):

Yeah, I think it's...

(00:02:21):

I can say disappointing for me,

(00:02:23):

but mostly devastating for me and mainly for matters that he's out.

(00:02:29):

The team, we will miss him.

(00:02:31):

And no doubt he will miss playing football.

(00:02:33):

Thank you, Tom.

(00:02:34):

Thank you, you're welcome.
