Personal terms being discussed as £40M bid expected for Tottenham defender with "physicality and a great character"
The transfer window might start to pick up again once Tottenham have recouped some money. Spending big does not mean one isn’t allowed to move on those who have outstayed their welcome.
Italy’s Corriere dello Sport say that Christian Romero is the number one priority for Inter, and they are planning to swoop in with a convincing bid.
“The Italian champions are ready to close the deal outright to give Cristian Chivu a reinforcement that management and technical staff are sure can raise the level of an already solid back department. Romero has leg, physicality and a great character, all qualities that would certainly be comfortable.”
Quite how that marries up with the threatened arrival of Guglielmo Vicario is anyone’s guess. I suspect that Cuti is highly unlikely to volunteer for more of the shouty ones’ remonstrating. So my quick prediction is that this transfer will not happen in conjunction with the Vicar’s arrival. I just don’t see it at all.
Dello Sport also adds that Inter are confident that they can find a deal with Tottenham because they “have had the green light from the property (meaning THFC) to work on the player, on whom there are also Barça and Arsenal.”
I suspect the mention of Arsenal may be spurious, to the point where Cuti, and his agent are so separated from the idea of remaining in London - remember Fabrizio Romano’s rather hostile piece recently - that they don’t care who they irritate on the way out the door.
The sooner he’s gone, the better.
He can take his bedsheet with him.
