Report: "He would like to depart this summer" Spurs prodigy has decided he wants out
Perhaps it was relegation fatigue, or maybe he was unimpressed that his opportunity to have a breakout season was being denied him, due to a revolving door of pretty inept managers.
David Ornstein is yet again the preferred choice to know that Lucas Bergvall wants out of Spurs, and he wants out and that he wants out this summer.
For me, this is a crying shame. One gets the sense that Tottenham blew it with Bergvall.
For Tottenham, it’s yet more collateral damage brought on by back-to-back 17th-place finishes that stripped a supposedly big club of the ability to experiment.
Lucas Bergvall is a versatile, box-to-box central midfielder; primarily CM, with experience as a No. 6 or a more advanced No. 8/10, known for his blend of technical quality, physical presence, progressive carrying, work rate, and tactical intelligence. Young but thoughtful with it.
One gets the sense that Tottenham blew it with Bergvall.
Thomas Frank used the midfielder less frequently during his spell with us, and often out wide, rather than the central area he favoured.
Under the ill-fated Igor Tudor, Bergvall appeared twice, but only as a substitute.
There will be Premier League suitors. Ornstein tells us that both Aston Villa and Chelsea had made enquiries.
Given the mess that ENIC steered Spurs into, there are signs that they are now going for experience, and appear to be demonstrating that they are willing to pay the going rate for it.
I have to wish the boy the very best and hope that this allegedly ‘new’ club don’t make similar blunders in the future.
