Report: Tottenham quoted €35-40 million for new goalkeeper
Anatoliy Trubin’s name has resurfaced in this summer’s transfer window.
The Ukraine international goalkeeper joined Benfica from Shakhtar Donetsk in the 2023/24 season for €10M plus €1M in bonuses. He quickly proved himself at the Portuguese side, making 32 Liga Portugal appearances in the 2025/26 campaign with consistent performances.
The player’s ambition is to compete in a more demanding league, with the Premier League his preferred destination. Aston Villa are showing the strongest interest, viewing Trubin as the prime candidate to replace Emiliano Martínez should he depart.
2025-26 Primeira Liga Key Stats (32 appearances, approx. 2,880 minutes)
Saves: 73
Goals conceded (GA): 24
Clean sheets (CS): 13
Save %: 75.3–76.1% (sources vary slightly; one reports 75.51% on 74/98 shots faced)
*GA per 90: 0.75
Saves per game: 2.28–2.33
Goals prevented: +3.48 (positive impact relative to expected)
*It’s perhaps worth adding here that Vicario’s goals against per 90 is 1.48, over a similar number of games.
Tottenham Hotspur has also been linked, but Villa’s pursuit appears more intense. On Benfica’s side, the stance is firm. The board refuses to entertain offers below €35 -40 million. Trubin’s contract runs until 2028 and includes a €100M release clause. While that figure is unlikely to be triggered, the club is prepared to assess alternatives if a tempting bid arrives.
Links remain at the rumour stage but have gathered momentum in May-June 2026. Factors include Vicario’s future (interest from Inter Milan reported) and Spurs’ need for competition in goal. Probability estimates in the market sit around 40-50% currently.
This scenario suggests Trubin will be one of the most talked-about names in the summer market. Benfica’s financial expectations, Premier League clubs’ need for a goalkeeper, and the player’s personal ambitions combine to make concrete developments in the coming weeks highly probable.

Presume he’d be backup to Kinsky ?
