So, as things stand, The Mighty Spuds will have a world cup winner in several days time.

at large's avatar

Maybe not if we sell Romero and Spence.

SimonSpur's avatar

Watched the game on US TV and they gave motm to Porro!

at large's avatar

They are imbeciles. I’m in the US and I watch on telemundo in Spanish. Obviously Rodri was miles clear of everyone out there.

SimonSpur's avatar

Agreed. Rodri was outstanding.

at large's avatar

Deschamp also agreed. First he took off Rabiot, then Olise to try to get something going in mf. To no avail.

Eddie's avatar

Who would have thought it,Porro probably with the goal to decide this match. It just shows what he can do when he doesn’t have to defend.Unbefuckinglievable.

SimonSpur's avatar

He's actually defended well in this game.

Eddie's avatar

He’s not had that much to do defensively and France have been poor, but it just shows that having better players around him he has more freedom to get forward and it’s shown in his performances.

Billy Tonsils's avatar

That’s why Porro is an winger…

at large's avatar

It helps having Lamine in front of him and Rodri running the pitch too.

SimonSpur's avatar

Spain have so much quality. I called a Spain win. I think France are a bit overrated.

Bad Kompany's avatar

Spain appeared to play close to their best match. France certainly did not. That said, excellent call.

Billy Tonsils's avatar

France have run out of ideas that is for sure …..Spain look fantastic.

at large's avatar

France have had no way through and getting destroyed in midfield. Rodri is by far the best player on the pitch.

Spain are playing how RDZ wants to play.

Eddie's avatar

If that’s the case maybe Porro will be reborn.

Phil Moss's avatar

Spence blows hot & cold - a good offer should be rightly considered but I would not say no to £45M. Muani is inept so no way do we need him!

judge's avatar

Everything going on at THFC currently is interesting .

Whatever the outcome - and right here , right now , its promising , is without doubt the most encouraged I have been since the heady days of a Champs League Final .

Good luck or great skill , Bobby D has brought a smile to most people's faces , something even 3 months ago would have not been believed .

We are all genuinely engaged in the signing of players , we have been wowed to find that very good /great players might want to play for us . This was not the case before RDZ , even if you dont like the bloke right now all indications are that he is a mile in front of Frank , Tudor , Ange et al . At the moment he appears to be leading from the front , his opinions are , at the very least , being listened to . I totally believe we are in the best of hands ---- C O Y S !!!!!!!!!!

Billy Tonsils's avatar

DeZerbi seems to have gone bananas for Muani …Our coach needs a good hard look at himself in the mirror ..

SimonSpur's avatar

Just when we thought this summer was going very well....

coys1882's avatar

All media clickbait BT. There is not a single shred of evidence that RDZ has any interest in re-signing Kolo Muani. Frankly I would be astonished. In my opinion we are being used by Bayern and Muani's agent to get Juventus to stump up the readies for him!

Billy Tonsils's avatar

I still don’t like it ..

coys1882's avatar

I couldn't agree with you more. The guy was a complete fucking waste of space. We'd be insane to re-sign him.

Eddie's avatar

So it’s official,Vuskovic has finally signed for Brighton for 46M possibly rising to 50M.That’s almost Van Hecke’s fee paid.I think he only played in the game against us at the WC and he looked a little lost at times. He looked like he might not have enough pace for the top level, perhaps that was RDZ’s view too.Anyway it will be interesting to watch his progress.

coys1882's avatar

I don't think Spence's talent has ever been in doubt, but his consistency or lack thereof, plus an attitude problem (at least with some managers), mark him down as someone who it would be unwise to rely on. On the back of one or two great cameos at this World Cup, his stock will likely never be higher, so if we can get around 40m for him, I would pull the trigger.

judge's avatar

Spence , and I know very little of his stats , flatters to deceive . He lacks discipline , especially in one who believes in himself on a grand scale , and just happens to be versatile at an apparent level .

Coys is quite right in saying that before this semi final , his reputation cannot exceed the level he is currently enjoying . Much like the Cuti situation , he is a potential liability and even if he went on to do good things , we should take advantage of his 'acclaim' asap.

There are decent full backs out there , I think Robertson , even at a ripe old age , will prove that next season . And as brutal as he can be at times , Matty Cash and his conviction to the cause is also out of the steely defensive draw that is necessary .

Djed Spence for £40m ?? Snap their hand off please !!!!!

at large's avatar

We won’t sell him because he earned Bobby’s respect last season making himself available at the end with a broken jaw when we were short bodies.

I’m still curious to learn who the 10-12 players Bobby rates.

Eddie's avatar

I would give him until January to see how he takes to RDZ.The chances are that he won't be a regular starter and we can see if he sulks like he did with Frank.

I'm another who thinks he was lucky to get the call for England's WC squad. It's probably because of his pace and being able to cover both LB and RB.I think he's had an in and out time with England and his attitude certainly changed when he got his initial call up.He has shown in the games he's played in this WC a trait that he exhibits in every game.

The one where he dwells on the ball with plenty of time, almost inviting a challenge, and finds himself under pressure and sometimes clears the ball and others he is caught in possession and looks foolish,

I'd like to think Tuchel will be onto him about it and I'm not sure RDZ will be too impressed if it continues.

Billy Tonsils's avatar

Lucky to get the call up ..the England squad is full of injured people ..

Urbane Sturgeon's avatar

I would have let him go pre world cup, but we're seeing what he's capable of with the right players around him, and the right manager, so now I'd give him time with RDZ and our new recruits; especially if the best offer is sub 40 mil.

Caveat: even when playing well, I remain concerned about the number of crosses he fails to block, which should be one of any full-back's primary talents.

Urbane Sturgeon's avatar

And of course, if RDZ wants him around, who am I to argue?

Graham Broach's avatar

Spence has done well for England and shown guts playing through pain and injury. However, there has always been something about him I can't warm to. For a wing-back, we really need someone combining the best qualities of Spence and Porro. I would ideally sell both and replace them with one better player, retaining Archie Gray as backup.

Brick Top's avatar

Sell em both. Even Bissaka would be a major upgrade on Porro.

coys1882's avatar

I have to disagree with you on that one BT. I saw the Hammers at least a dozen times last year and Bissaka was mostly poor, in fact he was replaced by KWP for a number of games. He also has a major attitude problem. I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole personally.

Brick Top's avatar

Bissaka wouldn't be my ideal signing, but I still think he's a better player than Porro. The latter also has a major attitude problem so I guess it would be a matter of picking the lesser evil. My main point is that I can't stand Porro.

Vanderson from Monaco could be a better option worth looking at.

coys1882's avatar

Hahaha … well fair enough. I feel the same way about Wan Bissaka or (Ban Wissaka) as I call him! I can’t stand the guy. It’s in his body language, a moody fucker who plays when he feels like it. At least Porro stood up to be counted down the stretch last season, Bissaka didn’t. Yes, Vanderson would be a decent shout.

Billy Tonsils's avatar

Bissaka currently at a West Ham ..that one ..if so he looked diabolical last season ..

JimmyGrievance's avatar

We’ve seen the two possibly more sides to Spence in this WC. The side we all know. Can’t be arsed no obvious commitment and clearly not in tune with his team mates. We know this because Tommy Tuchel was screaming at him to basically just wake up.

Then we’ve seen another side. Basically, the complete opposite of the above. Things we don’t even know he had. They pace for one. Rarely has he used that in our shirt.

It’s my view he’s more the first description than the second. For that reason I’d say get as much as you can. If he had another good game clubs not just here but abroad will look more closely and make a bid. There’s always a player who has a great WC. They get a big move then they tend to disappear into the ether. Yes, there are exceptions. In Spence he’ll just return to type. So cashing in would be my move.

East Stand's avatar

He blows hot and cold, you can see in that particular reel why Tuchel took him, but in his other appearances you wonder why he was even considered over others.

The best players don't show things in fits and starts, that for me is the difference between the best and the also-rans. I'd wager that Spence's stock will never be higher after this World Cup, and so a good time to do a deal...

Billy Tonsils's avatar

Maybe we should buy Reece James who is completely fakt..or swap James for Spence hahaha.

JL's avatar

I'd be more than happy to sell him. Spence was a club signing who was forced onto Conte who never wanted him. The fact that he hasn't held down a consistent place under several managers shows he's not going to get any better. Given his history of sulking I don't see him being trusted by De Zerbi, let's hope we sell him and he can be another club's concern once things go pear shaped for him again.

Billy Tonsils's avatar

We persist with Porro the clown who has had more goal contributions for the opposition than he has for Spurs ..don’t get it at all.

East Stand's avatar

Didn'tlike him and VDV snubbing Frank, utter petulance and unprofessionalism displayed in public.

I've wanted both of them out (at the right money) from that moment...

Billy Tonsils's avatar

Petulance and lack of professionalism was the way Spurs was run …how about Bellingham questioning Tuchel…..should we drop him v Argentina.

East Stand's avatar

No, because he’s England’s best player and international teams only get together for one aim, especially this deep into a tournament. Bellingham is a top quality player, regardless of what you think of his attitude. VDV and Spence have done fuck all, apart from help us finish 17th, twice.

Not sure there’s even a comparison to be made between the two…

Billy Tonsils's avatar

One is in a World Cup semi final the other saved a certain goal in the Europa League final.

Now can you tell me which Spurs players have pleased you over the past 2 seasons . ..there are consequences of having 17 coaches in 21 years . it would appear being absolutely shit is one of them .

East Stand's avatar

I’m not making a comparison either, between a goal saving tackle in the worst European final I’ve ever seen, in a second rate competition, and a squad present in a World Cup semi.

I agree with what you say about the chaos at Spurs and the lack of identity, all down to the bald cunt. However, players like VDV and Spence are also the kind of players you attract under that regime.

With the exception of Gray, Gallagher and one or two others, none of them are worth shit to me anymore. Snubbing Frank publicly was emblematic of the whole situation, of which the players also have to take responsibility. It nothing to do with taking Frank’s side.

Robertson, even Davies’ extension tells you a lot about how the problems in that squad are seen within the club. I just wouldn’t miss half of them and Vicario,Romero, VDV, Bentancur and Spence are part of the rot that needs cutting away. Otherwise this isn’t the fresh start we need.

I’m not picking on certain players, I’m picking up on the ones that seem to look to blame everyone else in two 17th place finishes. The Frank snub was nothing other than that.

Just my opinion…

Brick Top's avatar

I think it's obvious he's hit his ceiling. A decent PL player, but nothing more - a good fit for a midtable club like Everton.

From what I'm hearing we're in the mix to sign Anan Khalaili. On his transfermarkt page there's a question mark next to his Spurs link probability while 70% to Inter to replace Dumfries. We can absolutely get him and he would be an upgrade on Spence to say the least. Two-footed, can play as a full back or winger, as fast as Djed, higher ceiling and already much better in attack. Market value allegedly 23 million euros, but 40m is the reported asking price. At a 15m net spend I would sanction both deals without a second thought. Basically you're getting the next Hakimi for 15m plus Spence.

Billy Tonsils's avatar

I don’t think Spence has hit his ceiling at all…he should be playing on the right not the left .Porro who is a dreadful defender doesn’t draw half the criticism that Spence does ..Spence has an attitude problem ..does he ..? Has he been fined for turning up late ? Thought not . Is Archie Gray is going to play right back ..instead of in midfield as DeZerbi looks for another midfielder ( paper talk) .

Spence has shown he can defend and attack…when used correctly.

Brick Top's avatar

I agree Porro is a terrible defender and when Zerbi clearly rates him over Spence that should tell us everything we need to know about Spence. Just get rid of both and bring in two new full backs.

coys1882's avatar

Anan Khalaili just failed a medical at Inter apparently BT, so not a prospect now.

Brick Top's avatar

He didn't fail his club medical, but some weird mandatory olympic medical they have over in Italy. Inter still wanted to sign him, but it's illegal for him to play in the Serie A. Good news for us.

coys1882's avatar

Ah . OK . Yes, I didn’t specify that it was a club medical, because there was no additional data provided. Albeit I had assumed that it was, being unaware of this strange ‘Olympic’ medical requirement which apparently is unique to Italy.

Billy Tonsils's avatar

A mid table club ..as opposed to a bottom 4 club ..we still don’t have a striker worth a light.

Brick Top's avatar

We need a left winger and a striker before we can talk about making the top six, but let's keep it real here, THFC is a much bigger club than Everton.

Billy Tonsils's avatar

Not in terms of honours ..I see them as similar to Spurs in many ways ..though we won cups and they won leagues then bonkers owners anachronistic Chmn . Wonder how long Moyes will be there ?

TheBoyHotspur's avatar

I’d sell him tomorrow

si levy's avatar

Good question…DZB is obviously looking to build a team where there is real competition for every position. However Rome was not built in a day, therefore I suspect he will keep Spence to pressure Porro for at least this season.

LevyIsATurd's avatar

Attitude aside, he’s a better player than Porro. Had the WC window to hopefully showcase him to someone.

East Stand's avatar

I have a feeling Spence sticks around for this campaign too, not 100% sure why, but I just think it's how it will be...
