The BBC’s Football Focus show is now bang in trouble with viewing figures on a consistent slide, with a major ‘no, thanks’ reaction coming as 827,000 viewers became just 564,000 when Alex Scott replaced Dan Walker as the anchor in 2021.

Of course, the first thing a misogynist bigot would say is that they weren’t one, but it needs to be said that women in football is an essentially flawed proposition and has nothing to do with any inherent unkindness towards females.

In life, sometimes the best man for the job isn’t a woman.

Equally, having people of colour in virtually every television advert doesn’t represent the makeup of the overwhelming majority of families in the United Kingdom, beer drinkers of planet Earth decided that Dylan Mulvaney, a bloke in a dress wearing makeup, wasn’t the face of Bud Light that they wanted to be associated with.

The boycott of the brand signalled one of the dumbest business decisions ever made, ever. There’s a distinctly darker and seedier underbelly to that particular strand of acceptance of kink (trading as gender ideology) and you can do your own research into Mermaids, the Tavistock Clinic and such.

There’s a valid reason that a season ticket to watch women play is only £75 at Spurs, cheaper options are available everywhere else, of course, and one can spend that much and much more on a ticket for just one game, watching the men play.
