Tottenham offer Tonali a colossal 6-year deal, worth £12M, as Toon are irritated by third-party leaks
Tottenham have their critics, but the Chronicle Live suggests that they are making all the right moves and have presented a layered deal to Newcastle United that ought to have got their attention, at least
Sandro Tonali is believed to have agreed a personal package in principle with Tottenham Hotspur after talks with his agency GR Sports.
Tonali has reached a personal agreement with a confident Tottenham Hotspur, say Yahoo!, on a six-year contract. Reports indicate it’s worth around €12 million per year (£10–10.1m, or roughly £275,000 per week including bonuses in some accounts), which would more than double his current salary at Newcastle.
Tonali is supposedly keen on the move, influenced by Roberto De Zerbi. He’s ready to sign if the clubs agree on a fee. Or that’s the consensus.
This would be a club-record fee for Spurs if it goes through. Sportmediaset, are also reporting this as a done deal for the Lilywhites.
It’s the valuation that is the final piece of the puzzle, and this, crucially, is where things could go wrong. The deal isn’t fully completed yet as it hinges on the transfer fee and structure between the club, but personal terms appear advanced or agreed in principle. A concrete offer to Newcastle needs to be accepted.
Numerous reports suggest that a deal could be done in days; however, Newcastle are said to have been plagued by third-party leaks on the negotiations.
What does the bid look like?
Tottenham have had offers in the region of £75m–£80m (sometimes reported with add-ons) rejected by Newcastle. At least one or two bids at similar levels were turned down. It’s a 6-year-deal which points to a Chelsea-type contract model. Which is promising.
Spurs’ £275k per week wage range for the player would also be something new for the accounts department at Spurs to get used to.
