After 4 CL matches we are 2-2-0 and the 4 teams Spurs played have a grand total of ONE WIN amongst them...

O/10 - oh its a man's life being a misunderstood protégé.

Richy had a Hat Trick of Howlers...

Odobert looks significantly better with the left footed Udogie as FB

Spurs look better with their original "back 4" on the pitch

We beat a crap team from Copenhagen that would likely be fighting bottom 6, if not relegation, in the PL

Feels good, but we need a performance against Man United and a decent showing against Arsenal before I'm getting any warm or fuzzy feelings about our squad. PL form matters.

There are two differences from last nights game to the previous few. The most obvious is the opponent. They weren’t very good. But ! You can only play what’s in front of you. The second was the intensity and speed we played.

We moved the ball quicker . We pressed quicker and we defended solidly when needed. Like I say. The opposition wasn’t great. But we did a great job.

What last night should’ve done is given confidence to every single player and the manager and his staff. We set a bar as to how we can play if we want. I’ll be very disappointed if in the next game we revert to the negative that we have seen.

And finally. After missing that penalty. That should be the last ball Richarlason ever kicks in our shirt. TF should now keep faith with the players who started. Make Richarlason water boy. It wasn’t red card either. They should be appealing that.

Munai did everything but score got in the right positions had an assist…did miss some decent chances. if he becomes quality PSG may well take him back ( can he play v psg ).

We have Munai til the end of the season and he needs match practice Richarlison doesn’t need match practice..A permanent signing is needed in Jan really to see the player bedded in for next season. Toney isn’t a bad loan deal it’s whether it is going to become made permanent or the club will be scratching around for another striker come summer.

My assumption is that both Kolo and Ivan are on huge wages and so I hope the club is looking at other deals for a long term striker .

Those ten minutes after the red were the most dominant football I've seen from any side this season - yes the oppo were pathetic during that spell but the way we punched through them en masses was a wonder to behold.

If we delivered ten minutes like that every game we'd have an extra 40 goals scored in all comps and would probably end up with an extra 20 pts in the league come the end of the campaign...!

Ah well.

Cabspur's avatar

Bloody missed that will try and dig a reply up somewhere.

SpursGoliath's avatar

We scored two but could have had four, was relentless stuff.

Tony Vaughan's avatar

Highlights even more the need for a striker. If the Toney rumour gain momentum let's get it done.

SpursGoliath's avatar

If Richarlison leaves and Toney comes in I'll take it - I'd also promote Scarlett and send Tel out on loan.

Not a massive Toney fan but options of Solanke, Muani, Scarlett and Toney would certainly see us through this season.

Richarlison is such a pain, scored a couple of peaches first game or so under Frank then back to the usual nonsense...

Tony Vaughan's avatar

I think you may be underrating Toney. Scored 36 goals in 85 PL games with 11 assists. That's way above anyone else we have. Solanke has 38 goals from 163 games and 16 assists. I know who I'd rather pick. Plus Toney is a fantastic hold up striker and a total nuisance to defenders.

Billy Tonsils's avatar

Toney from hot weather to winter in London ..hamstrings becoming match fit. Solanke will take time to get up to match fitness if he makes a successful return ..

Long term quality striker required..

Tony Vaughan's avatar

Agreed but Toney is a good option for now and at 29 still has a good few years ahead of him. Scored 28 goals in 37 appearance whilst in Saudi. I know its not comparable to the PL, but he was no slouch here either.

SpursGoliath's avatar

I haven't watched him the last two years in Saudi, if he comes back in peak form then maybe...otherwise I think people are underrating Solanke a little bit.

Muani is an unknown still.

Tony Vaughan's avatar

I think 5 for Muani is a tad harsh. In my opinion, he had a good game tonight and I'm beginning to see a player there. His touch was sublime for the goal he set up and his general work rate was a lot more impactful that Richy could ever be. Just needs a goal to get him ip and running. Probably a 7 for me.

judge's avatar

Totally agree - there were little pieces of high class footwork. He obviously needs to break his duck , but that cannot be long . He looks the only credible line - leader , Solanke been here some time now and he's not a certain starter in front of Richi ffs !!

I can see Muani scoring in big games purely because of his talent -- go on son !!!!

SpursGoliath's avatar

I guess the way to see that 5 out of 10 is he's feeling his way back in and is only a gnat's bollock behind established players who should be doing better by now (Odobert, Brennan, etc)

Saying that...I'd have awarded him a 6!

Could have been ten if we had anybody who can head the ball downwards. Flawed technique is obvious. They are heading like defenders. I thought your score for Richarlison was too generous.!! VDV started his career as a centre forward - not difficult decision when we have a surfeit of defenders.

Gonville's avatar

Given where we are at the moment, and I mean this deadly seriously, I would play VdV upfront until the transfer window opens. I’d play Danso and Romero together at the back and put VdV upfront.

He has all the attributes: strong, tall, quick, good in the air and has a good finishing ability.

The other four look absolute filth compared to him.

at large's avatar

I hear you but let’s not get carried away here. This wasn’t Liverpool he carved through.

What I’d do is play 442 put VDV in left mid position like Bale. Let him do the business there. Recall Vuskovic and Phillips and play them at CB when Danso needs a rest and Romero is “injured”.

SimonSpur's avatar

The new Gary Doherty!

Cabspur's avatar

Let’s make sure we don’t give him away for free .

SpursGoliath's avatar

I wouldn't go that far, but Frank's tactics should emphasise and facilitate Romero and VdV joining the attack during multiple phases of the game.

It needs to be an established tactic.

Gonville's avatar

And play who upfront? The player offering the most threat in front of goal this season is the centreback

SpursGoliath's avatar

Muani is possibly getting there, and Solanke is tidy but unexciting.

Richarlison and Tel (loan) out in January and a new option brought in if even on loan.

We have very little depth at defence hence Palhinha keeps getting dragged back to play there! That's not something I want to see because he's useful elsewhere and needs the occasional rest.

The Tallest Japanese Man in the World is still injured? Either way, he's not an option yet, nowhere near. So VdV has to keep playing as one of the three central defenders we trust.

Our defensive record is close to incredible this season, statistically speaking, you don't kill that golden goose

I read that he started out as a forward/striker. Good effort. Watch his value shoot up.
