This one is dragging on. I sense Spurs don’t really want to close it. Classic Spurs: offer the earth in personal terms and then offer £20 and a packet of peanuts in transfer fees so it is rejected, and then write to the fans about how hard they tried and how tough the market is.
Don't care about the fee, he's an oven ready upgrade. Because of the suspension, Tonali has one year less wear and tear and less miles on the clock. We could get 6/7 good years out of him.
This is propaganda to get the gullible to commit to buying a season ticket. Clubs with ambition don’t sell their best players. We know this first hand as we’ve always done just that.
I don’t see the Toon being like us. They also don’t need the money. Not having it mate. You part with your hard earned if you think this is going to happen. I’ve got some magic beans you can buy when you’re done.
Chelsea will sell three of their best players this summer (one has already left) but they'll just churn churn churn and move on.
Nothing wrong with selling players if you get top dollar and you have an ambitious plan.
With the 'new Spurs' the jury is still out.
The only difference so far this summer is instead of only liking the sound of a third of the players we're linked with this time we only seem linked with quality which hopefully bodes well.
Miss out on Tonali and Fernandes...like the sound of Wharton and Scott...or Gibbs-White and Kone...etc. The tactic seems to be just drive up the whole market and get involved in all our rivals transfer plans forcing them to pay top dollar or lose out.
We'll see how it pans out, we spent a reasonable amount last summer and I do believe we'll spend a fair wedge more than that this time. It's all a case of hoping we break the habit of a lifetime and spend it well.
Paying the 'Prem conditioned' premium will upset some fans and/or Levy apologists, as well as the MSM who seem seething we're 'doing a Newcastle', but it's the best bet to play catch up. Simons shows you buy outside the league and so often the player doesn't really click.
Spurs have a pre conditioned their transfer policy. As my ol nan used to say. A leopard doesn’t change its spots. For decades we’ve been given the jam tomorrow spiel. Every transfer window we’re linked to at least one big name but rarely does it happen.
Yes, clubs sell their best players. Yannited did it all the time under ol red nose. However. They didn’t replace them with poor quality knock offs of the same thing thing like we do. Kane & Son out. Richarlason & Solanke in as proof of my point.
I only believe we’ve got a player when he’s in the shirt and on the pitch. Even then there’s a level of uncertainty as to how much he’ll play and how long he’ll stay.
