Fair play to Vuscovic, doing what he thinks best for himself, I’ve no problem with that. He’s 19 and great potential and good early promise, but let’s not treat him like a King, Mabbutt or England for example at present. Plus if he’s looked at what the Enfield spa does to players in recent years he’s right to look out for himself.

Our two right backs could be in the playing World Cup final, I’d still sell Spence, but go figure, as a great said it’s a funny old game.

I think £50 million is unrealistic for Spence, but anything less than £40 frankly would be under-selling him in the current transfer market. The right time to cash in on him is now and frankly I have no special attachment to Vuscovic either. £50 million, plus a 20% sell-on fee, could mean as much as £65 mill for a kid we didn't even have to develop. I think some people underestimate the learning curve to becoming a top CB in this league and unless he truly becomes a world beater, in short order, I believe it's a good deal for us at this point.

50m perhaps a little over but I guess that's the markup price, not maybe what gets paid.

Market has gone crazy COYS; Van Hecke's fee was a bit high for me and we probably paid 30m+ over the odds for Tonali, but it is what it is. You want the player, you match the market even if it's overheated, otherwise you miss out.

Spence as a World Cup semi finalist, with significant mins on that journey I think puts him in the 35-45m bracket within the market as it is. I reckon that range is what you can expect to do a deal for Spence at the moment. His wages would probably be sensible compared others I imagine too, unless his agent starts taking the piss.

I'd bite someone's hand off for that...

The slowing of the rumours is to expected I think. We need to sweep our the stables a bit before we add more top dollar thoroughbreds. I’d sell Spence if it meant we could add some more goalscorers into the team. How long is it until Porro breaks down though? He’s been one of the only first XI players to avoid a long term injury so far, but he’s put quite a few miles in the clock these past couple of seasons.

A good manager tries to assemble the best group of players and fit a system around them. If DZ hasn't updated his Brighton system then we are in big trouble, because he is discarding our best players, without even seeing them up close. DZ left Brighton after other PL managers got him sussed. They conceded 5 goals at home to the bottom team (Everton I think). Play it out from the back is dead, deceased, no longer breathing. You wont find any of the big European teams playing possession football any more. The World Cup is an outlier, but Spain are playing something that suits their team. You cant out pass them,

Which of our best players is RDZ discarding Keith? Veliz? Devine? Bissouma? Kolo Muani? Dragusin? The only potential 'best' player is Vusco, who wanted out and wasn't willing to fight for his place and who we got £50 million for (plus a 20% sell-on fee).

Much as I love your invocation of the 'Dead Parrot' sketch, 'playing out from the back' is certainly not dead! City won four consecutive EPL titles using it and the Arse were still employing it last season, as were City. Spain, as noted, are on the cusp of winning a World Cup with it.

RDZ has shown clearly, at the end of last season, his ability to adapt to the skill sets of the players at his disposal and in remarkably short order. However, in truth, all top managers, even whilst being flexible, seek to acquire players best suited to playing their preferred systems.

I'm going to withhold any opinion on RDZ and how he operates until at least six months into this season, so many different factors involved. In clouding his personality...

Vuscovic has been a grade A1 twat over the last 6 months and is clearly believing his own hype. Too many fans are wailing "he's a generational talent". I suspect that is far from the truth as he will find the PL a big step up from the Bundeslige in terms of physicality and intensity.

Anyhoo, he didn't want to play for us or fight for his place, so fuck him. We move on.

This is all because he isn't English, isn't it?!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You know me, I hate everyone equally, regardless of any protected characteristics.

Spence's involvement in the World Cup has been very good for us, as has been mentioned before, his stock will never be higher. Time to deal...

Likewise, Porro is really showing his stones. He was outstanding last night.

East Stand's avatar

Porro might deserve a season under RDZ with renewed vigour?!

He definitely does
